Brazil's secret UFO register: the 1978 and 1989 orders, and the air-defence statistics
Brazil's Air Ministry kept a secret UFO register from 1978, with a commission rating each record. In 1989, three years after the Night of the UFOs, Minister Octávio Moreira Lima signed a secret order saying the evidence of certain inexplicable phenomena could no longer be ignored and must be recorded and analysed systematically, and moved the files to the air defence command. Its statistics count 614 cases from 1954 to 1999, 34 of them with radar, and 48 more from 2001 to 2005. In 2010 the Defence Ministry answered a deputy's request with 52 pages.
