EU Parliament question E-001567/2025: a UAP category for aviation reports

Fabio De Masi, 17 April 2025: the Commission told Parliament in 2024 that UAP go under "Unknown Airborne Objects", but no such category exists in ECCAIRS 2; he asks for a dedicated UAP category. Commissioner Tzitzikostas answered on 2 July 2025 that UAP threatening collision go under "Near Airborne Collision with Other Airborne Object" (Implementing Regulation 2015/1018) and any other UAP can go in the voluntary systems under Regulation 376/2014. No new category. On the record, the Commission named one category in 2024 and a different one in 2025 once told the first did not exist.
