UN General Assembly decision 33/426 (1978): UFO research
At Grenada's request (Prime Minister Sir Eric Gairy) the General Assembly put UFOs on its agenda at its 32nd and 33rd sessions. Grenada's drafts for a UN agency were not pressed to a vote; instead decisions 32/424 and 33/426 invited interested member states "to take appropriate steps to coordinate on a national level scientific research and investigation into extraterrestrial life, including unidentified flying objects". Gairy spoke in the Special Political Committee in November 1978 (A/SPC/33/PV.35) and was overthrown in March 1979 while at the UN.
