Harrison Schmitt

Apollo 17 lunar module pilot and geologist. Saw a flash on the lunar surface north of Grimaldi on 10 December 1972 and asked Houston to check the seismometers. Fifty-four years later he co-wrote the 2026 paper that cross-checked Apollo flashes against seismic data and found no matches.
