On several nights between 9 and 13 October 2026, during the French joint exercise Typhon, unidentified drones flew over the Toulon naval base, the DGA's Toulon site and the 54e régiment d'artillerie at Hyères, inside restricted zone LF-P 62. The Mediterranean maritime prefecture confirmed they were not exercise drones and that security measures were triggered each time. Electromagnetic jamming failed to bring any down, no operator has been identified, and the Toulon prosecutor opened an inquiry.
