Sagan's letter to Mark Carlotto, 10 September 1986

On Cornell letterhead: 'I certainly agree that Jerry Soffen's "trick of lighting" off-hand remark is in error; that is, the impression of the face persists over a variation of all three photometric angles.' He added that Carlotto's reconstructed topography (figure 4) showed him 'not a hint of a face', asked 'Why not?', and proposed further discussion.
