Reality Check Rewind: Daniel Sheehan on the first Reality Check
A rerun, posted 5 November 2026, of the first Reality Check episode (about March 2024), with attorney Daniel Sheehan. Sheehan says that as special counsel to the Congressional Research Service study in spring 1977 he was shown classified Project Blue Book microfiche in the Madison Building, including photos of a crashed domed saucer in snow with Air Force men filming it, and traced its symbols onto his notepad. He says President-elect Carter was refused a UFO briefing by CIA director George H.W. Bush in November 1976, that he gave sworn testimony to AARO, and calls the Historical Record Report's 'no firsthand witnesses' line a willful lie.
Leads to follow
- The 1977 Madison Building Blue Book photos of a crashed domed saucer: one named firsthand viewer, no date or place for the crash; a case needs a second source.
- Albert Stein, a Blue Book worker Sheehan interviewed on his deathbed, said a special unit took about 700 unexplained cases and that he saw a craft at S4; identity and place (northern Michigan or Minnesota) unconfirmed.
- Carter's request of 19 November 1976 for a UFO briefing, refused by the CIA (via Marcia Smith); look for a record.
