The Department of Defense officially released FLIR1, GIMBAL and GOFAST 'to clear up any misconceptions' about whether the leaked footage was real. The Navy had already said in 2019 that the objects in them were 'unidentified aerial phenomena'. In August 2020 the Pentagon formed the UAP Task Force.
