JPL press photo P-22994C: Voyager 1 colour view of Saturn (1980)

JPL's press release image of Saturn from Voyager 1's approach on 18 October 1980, issued 28 October 1980 as P-22994C (Voyager S-1-9). Its viewing geometry, colour enhancement and orientation match Bergrun's Plate 3. JPL's own caption says the ring edge was clipped by spacecraft drift between filter frames and that the coloured spots in the rings are an image-processing artifact; the raw frames are in the PDS archive (volume VGISS_6107). It was re-issued in August 1981 as P-23876C.
