Organization
NASA

The civilian space agency. Under the 1958 Space Act it can withhold classified material and counts as a 'defense agency' for patent secrecy. Its own engineers coined 'moon pigeons'. Its 2022-23 UAP study team was not tasked with its archive imagery.
On the record
- Scientists research: The US space agency, through JPL and Marshall, is the employer or funder for more names than any other body: Reza, Maiwald, Hicks, LeBlanc, and indirectly Grillmair, Eskridge's father and Ning Li's 1990s tests. NASA said in Apr 2026 that 'nothing related to NASA indicates a national security threat' and that it is cooperating with the FBI review.
- NASA: cooperating with the review; 'nothing related to NASA indicates a national security threat' (20 Apr 2026).
- House Oversight letters of 20 Apr 2026 went to DOE, DoD, FBI and NASA.
- NASA's FY2026 request had no funding for nuclear thermal or electric propulsion projects.
- The 1962-64 space-fragments file (USG-UAP-D002, EOP-UAP-D002; PURSUE Release 07) sets NASA's minimum-disclosure line and records DOD's wish to use NASA as a 'cover'.
