The Blue Room FOIA trail (1980-2012)
Three FOIA requests over 32 years chase the 'Blue Room' at Wright-Patterson, the room Senator Barry Goldwater said LeMay would not let him see. The Air Force first said no records existed (1981), then listed a 1955 film titled 'Blue Room' destroyed in 1965 (1991), and in 2012 named NASIC as the office of record. What the room held is not shown by any of the letters.

Overview
- What is shown: a 1955 Air Force film titled 'Blue Room' existed and was destroyed in 1965, and in 2012 NASIC was named office of record for 'Blue Room'.
- What is not shown: what the room held. An engine-test-building reading competes with the crash-storage one.
On the record
- Goldwater's letters of 3 Dec 1974, 28 Mar 1975 and 19 Oct 1981, and the 1975 LeMay interview.
Open questions
- Natural explanation offered: Geoff Cruickshank reads the 'Blue Rooms' as two engine-test buildings (18E and 18F) from Library of Congress HABS records; the ATIC history for 1952 also uses the term. Gerb instead places a 1960s Blue Room in Hangar 4E. Neither reading is settled.
- The text of NASIC's 17 May 2012 reply to Bragalia has not been read.
