Person
Barry Goldwater
Barry Goldwater, US senator from Arizona (1953-65, 1969-87), Air Force Reserve major general and 1964 Republican presidential nominee, said in 1975 that he asked Gen. Curtis LeMay for access to a room at Wright-Patterson holding UFO material and that LeMay angrily refused. Letters he wrote in 1974, 1975 and 1981 repeat that he was denied, that the subject was "classified above Top Secret", and that he knew of no one with access to the "Blue Room".
