UFO Whistleblowers [Vol.2]

Three witnesses. Harland Bentley says that in May 1958, at a Nike Ajax site near Olney, Maryland, he saw a disc hit a cornfield and take off again, and crews in radiation suits load a glowing piece onto a lead-lined truck; Gerb could not verify his records but sets the account beside the 1958 W-93 landing and the Loch Raven car-stall case. Senator Barry Goldwater's 1975 interview and three letters tell of LeMay refusing him the Wright-Patterson room. "RB", a Marine, says he guarded a disc in December 1963. The AFOSI Ralph Brown report of 1953 completes the Wright-Patterson picture.

On the record

  • Goldwater's letters of 3 Dec 1974, 28 Mar 1975 and 19 Oct 1981.
  • The AFOSI report of 27 Apr 1953 (MSgt Ralph Brown).
  • Blue Book files for the W-93 and Loch Raven cases.

Open questions

  • Was Bentley at W-92 or W-93, and can his service be confirmed?
  • Who is "RB"?

Leads to follow

  • Lead, not a record yet: case/wright-pat-disc-1963-rb (Stringfield status report 5; Schratt's notes).
  • Pointer on case/apollo8-far-side-light that Bentley's unverified claim exists.
  • Nike site W-93 unit records for May 1958.

Witness testimony (3)

In May 1958 a 30-ft wobbling disc with rim lights hit a cornfield about 2,000 yd from his Nike site and took off again, shearing branches; USAF crews in radiation suits loaded a white-hot, washing-machine-sized piece onto a lead-lined truck.Disclosure Project, 2001; Gerb could not verify his records.firsthandNike Ajax site W-93, Maryland: a disc crash and a landing (1958)

For two weeks in December 1963 he guarded a 40-ft seamless ovoid disc on scaffolding; torches and a laser failed to cut it, generals could not cross a tape circle, and he stopped the Secretary of the Navy at the line.Stringfield status report 5; Greer witness 10138; identity unverified.anonymous"RB" (Marine weapons technician)"RB" → Leonard Stringfield → told itWright-Patterson AFB & 'Hangar 18'
