Project Moon Dust and Operation Blue Fly

Project Moon Dust and Operation Blue Fly
  • A documented Air Force recovery program with authority to retrieve fallen foreign space vehicles.
  • Its cables touch UFO reports in Pakistan, Nepal, Canada, New Zealand and Bolivia.
  • Denied to two senators in 1992, admitted, then said in 1994 to be destroyed.
  • Gerb's crash-retrieval reading is his own reasoning.

Project Moon Dust was the Air Force's program to locate, recover and deliver fallen foreign space vehicles, run by the 1127th USAF Field Activities Group with Operation Blue Fly to rush finds to the Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson. Its released cables and memos show it handling dozens of fallen Soviet and US objects a year and also touching UFO reports: three cigars over Karachi in 1961, a crashed metal disc in Nepal in 1968, metal fragments in Canada and New Zealand, and a cylinder that fell in Bolivia in 1978. In 1992 the Air Force told two senators Moon Dust had never existed, admitted it when shown documents, and in 1994 said the files were destroyed. UAP Gerb reads the program as one documented channel of crash retrieval.

On the record

  • The 1961 AFCIN-1E draft naming Moon Dust and the 1127th's collection duties for UFO reports.
  • The 1967 review: 49 Soviet and 17 US objects, then a redacted portion.
  • Cables and memos on Karachi (1961), Nepal (1968), Canada (1976), New Zealand (1978) and Bolivia (1978).
  • The 1992 denial and admission to Senators Bingaman and Domenici, and the 1994 statement that the records were destroyed.

Open questions

  • What is under the redaction in the 1967 review?
  • What happened to the Nepal disc and the Bolivian cylinder? Both trails stop at the cables.
  • Why did the Air Force first deny that Moon Dust had existed?
