Vannevar Bush

American engineer who ran US wartime science as director of the Office of Scientific Research and Development and later chaired the Joint Research and Development Board. In September 1950 Robert Sarbacher told Canadian engineer Wilbert Smith that a small group headed by Bush was studying recovered flying saucers, and Smith's memo of 21 November 1950 repeats it. Sarbacher named him again in his 1983 letter.
